Internal Family Systems
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based, holistic psychotherapy model that promotes a non-pathologizing approach to gaining self-acceptance, inner harmony and healing trauma.
Although the name includes the word family, IFS is an individual therapy. IFS holds the view that each one of us has many parts within. Each of these parts are viewed as subpersonalities - each with its own unique characteristics, strengths, goals, memories, age, motivations, wisdom, and behaviors. As we use IFS, we learn to understand these parts, their histories, how they work internally, their relationships to other parts - as we gain this understanding, we gain insight about ourselves and can begin to notice when certain parts are present and why. According to IFS, how we get along with different parts of ourselves depends on our internal leadership skills, known in IFS as the Self. It is the Self that can heal the other parts of us. We all have the capacity to improve our self leadership skills, and the IFS model outlines the way.

IFS Vermont is a community where you can connect with other IFS clinicians, attend trainings and workshops, find supervision and consultation, and spread the healing power of IFS.

If you've attended a Level 1 IFS Training you have probably felt the nourishing sense of belonging and welcoming we are hoping to build here.
We know first hand that being a therapist is hard and sometimes isolating. We're here to build an authentic, welcoming, inclusive, diverse, and Self-Led community.
We will be offering a well-balanced mix of informal meetups and community events as well as more formal trainings, workshops, supervision, and retreats.
This community is what we make it, and we're so glad to have you here.
