IFS Vermont is a hope, a spark, and a growing community. Fiona and Tisha found themselves assisting in an online training together recently. They began asking themselves why they weren't connecting in person. So, they started meeting up in Burlington, VT to talk about IFS and their hopes for an IFS community in Vermont. This is the result. We hope you will join us as we create connection and learning opportunities.
Fiona Griffin (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and supervisor in private practice in VT. Fiona found IFS in 2018 while attending a workshop on best practices for working with transgender and non-binary clients in therapy. She was curious to learn more about this therapy that seemed playful, dynamic, and affirming of clients. It wasn't long before she found her own IFS therapist and enrolled in a Level 1 training in Portugal. Since completing her Level 1 training Fiona has gone on to become a Certified IFS Therapist and complete a Level 2 IFS training. Fiona also teaches an introductory courses on IFS at the UVM Counseling program and serves as a program assistant for IFS trainings.
In addition to her private practice Fiona is an instructor at the UVM Counseling Program. Fiona has played a small role in supporting the UVM Counseling Program to live up to their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion statement by engaging in advocacy efforts and professional development presentations.
Fiona often works with individuals who are at the beginning of their parenting journey and has post-graduate training in maternal mental health. She's served as a faculty member for the UVM project ECHO presenting on the topic of Perinatal Grief and Loss and Birth Trauma. Fiona has enjoyed using IFS to support new parents, explore legacy burdens around race, religion, and gender, and as a tool for training developing therapists. Fiona is currently accepting new clients for supervision including pre-licensed clinicians.
When she isn't working Fiona can be seen about town with her family, or found in the woods mountain biking or skiing.
